    The portrait engraving that we used in the Antiqueprint.org logo is Daniel Lock, Esq. by William Hogarth.

    Daniel Lock was a famous architect of his day and he is seen here in the engraving pointing out features in one of his architectural designs.

    It seemed to me both an interesting and appropriate image to use in the logo of a website about antique prints!

    Agreed! in many ways portraits are the epitome of the antique print.

    i love sets of them, they make great design features when hung on a wall in a group ...

    kinda historical and old worldy and charismatic all at the same time
