Some would say that fashion and design are closely related disciplines! I absolutely love all things design and it is fair to say that I have a passing interest in fashion too.
As I'm more geek than Fashionista, I would say my interest lies as much in the history and development of costume than in actual current trends!
Right now I'm really focussed on using Fashion images as pictures for use in stylish interiors.
I've come to really like old fashion magazine covers, I think they make excellent pictures on the wall. For obvious reasons, including that their purpose was initially to grab your attention and entice you to but the magazine...
... so naturally the images have to be eye catching and strong.
Which makes them ideal for use in the home if you want fun and stylish pictures on the wall.
I've been collecting 1940's covers together for a while now and have recently put them up on the website for sale, you can see them at 1940's Fashion Prints, if you care to take a look! They are all genuine, original covers, in remarkably good condition for 60 to 70 year old newsprint!
The fashions of the 1940's are especially interesting. Long straight skirts were common along with very narrow waists. I'm not sure how practicle such clothes were to wear but they certainly make for elegant bodylines ... thus they really enhance the look of a room. Images such as these give a stylish and arty feel to a room.
The 1940's make for a bit of a talking point too, many people still have a connection with the era, either through relatives or perhaps a love of classic movies, many of which date back to those times.
I'm posting a couple of examples here, so passers by can have a quick look!
